Why wouldn’t I just build my website myself for free?
Many of our clients felt the same way as you do. Many of our them have tried numerous supposed free web services, prior to switching to Badger Web Solutions and never looking back!
Essentially it comes down to three main things:
- Nothing is ever really free.
- Your time should be worth something too
- Expertise pays for itself over the long run
1. Nothing is ever really free
Everyone has heard the maxim, but it especially applies to online services. Most of these sites work on a freemium model, whereby sign up and basic features are free, but to get any half decent website with expected, modern features, you are going to have to cough up some moolah.
On top of all that, you will most likely have to purchase a domain, and website hosting as well, both of which make a dent in the whole free thing.
2. Your time is obviously worth something
Ever notice that when watching or reading tutorials or how to’s, it always seems WAY easier than it ends up being? The professional on the other end always makes it look way easier than it actually is. No why that is? Because they are the expert. This ease of doing things has come with thousands of hours of training and practice.
What will take them 15 mins to do, could take you hours to figure out, and even then you will probably end up with a lower quality end product.
Sure you can build a “Free” site yourself. But ask yourself 2 things. 1) How many hours will this take me and what is my time worth per hour. 2) Will the end result be as nice as I could have gotten had I paid an expert the result of my calculation in step 1?
3. Expertise pays for itself in the long run
Ok so you finally managed to get something half decent together. Nice! But did you build it optimally? Did you build it to last? What happens when an unexpected error or issue comes up? More time to fix it, or now hire someone who is unfamiliar with the site or how it was built, which will ultimately cost more than just sticking with the developer who should have built it in the first place.
